Wolves in Literature

We recently stumbled upon a charming collection of poems about wolves written by children in the Flagstaff, Arizona area. Published in 2012, this collection of wolf poetry by young poets explores the connection between humans and wolves.

The poems, all written by young poets ranging in grade level from 3rd grade to 8th grade, celebrate the beauty, intelligence, and spirit of wolves. The child-poets note the sleek fur, eerie howl, family-oriented lifestyles, and terrifying power of the wolf.

From Mexican grey wolves to white wolves, female wolves touting cubs and male wolves fighting for territory and position in the pack, this collection of student poetry brought us joy and inspired us to spend the rest of the day thinking about how to protect these magnificent creatures.
