There are over 100 different sub species of deer in the world. Deer can be found in nearly any location on the globe, and are on each continent except Antarctica.
White-tailed deer have a white patch located around its tail. Mule deer is a bigger species of deer compared to the white-tailed deer. A mule deer can be recognized by its ears, which are larger than than most other deer ears in proportion to body size.
Key deer, which are found in the Florida Keys, are much smaller than other deer species. Male key deers weigh only 50-70 pounds.
One of the largest groups within the deer species, elk are recognizable by their unique stature and shape. Also called wapiti, elk are one of the largest land mammals in North America.
