There are many species of turtle throughout the world, and the U.S. boasts many of them. Between turtles thriving in the wild and turtles bought and kept as pets, some of the most common turtle types found in America are listed below:

Bog Turtles: A critically-endangered, semi-aquatic turtle, bog turtles are small and rare. Adult Bog Turtles weigh only 2.9 ounces on average.

Musk Turtle: The musk turtle, also known as "stinkpot," are known for their unique ability to release a musky odor from the edges of their shells.
