Large, powerful, and proud, the moose is a fascinating animal. Surprisingly nimble and light-footed for their gigantic size and weight, moose are forest-dwelling mammals that subsist on a diet of mostly grasses... though they must eat a large amount of vegetal matter to support their frames, which can be up to 6.5 feet tall and weigh over 1800 pounds!
The largest of all deer species, the male moose is easily recognizable by his extremely large and impressive antlers, which can spread a width of up to 6 feet. A flap of loose skin, known as a "bell", hangs beneath the moose's throat.
