Over the mouth of the Catatumbo River in Venezuela looms an epic natural phenomenon referred to as the Catatumbo lightning or Relámpago del Catatumbo.
Originating from a mass of storm clouds nearby, the lightning occurs roughly 140 to 160 nights a year, lasting 10 hours per day and can strike up to 280 times per hour.
Scientists, nature lovers, storm watchers, and photographers flock to this area to check out the remarkable light show.
