The Rocky Mountain Rustic Fencepost Duck Collection might be one of our favorite lines we carry. These unique, completely one-of-a-kind duck sculptures are handcrafted from recycled cedar or juniper wood blocks cut from planks originally used as fenceposts by homesteaders in the American West and along the Rocky Mountains. These posts kept predators out and livestock nearby for centuries while the farms and the land around them changed.
Cedar wood is naturally insect-repellent and weather-resistant, so each of these reclaimed wooden posts have survived around one hundred years before being chosen for a higher purpose: wildlife art.
Each post is different in coloring, knots, and texture, so each duck decoy is completely unique. The duck decoy sculptures featured in our collection by Rocky Mountain Rustic are hand-carved from old cedar fenceposts once used by homesteaders in the Rocky Mountains. Pieces vary in color from deep red wood to honey-gold and blonde.
