Inspired by the large antelope species native to South African deserts, this African Gemsbok Metal Sculpture from artist Frank Cole is called "Namib Nomads." A truly unique work of wildlife art, this Gemsbok antelope sculpture is handcrafted by the artist from found materials including iron, steel, wood, and scrap metal, and makes a completely one of a kind display piece for any space. From the artist, Frank Cole: "The Namib desert is as desolate as it is beautiful. It's amazing to me this harsh landscape holds any wildlife, yet it teems with life against all odds. The gemsbok is without a doubt one of the most striking antelope species in all of Africa. It's a sub-species of the Oryx family, which also includes the Friged-ear and Scimitar-horned oryx. Incredibly tough, surprisingly graceful, and beautifully painted, I simply had to try to capture all this through reclaimed scrap-metal... I also used India ink to highlight the dramatic color and value differences of their coats. They are simply amazing animals."
